JCrew Stardust Pencil Skirt

While shopping down in SOHO last Saturday I stopped in the JCrew store. I was so excited to see the Stardust Pencil Skirt (which they had in every size while I was there if people are looking for them, I know they are sold out online). I had questioned this but once I saw it in person I loved it. I also bought the Masquerade tee, I did size up to a S in this like suggested by Ema because it is quite see through.
Here it is tucked in.
Styled with a white button-up.
Boyfriend v-neck tee like worn online but not tucked in.
Has anyone else bought this? What are your opinions and how will you style it? I've bought so many cute sequin things lately that I need to be invited to a whole bunch of holiday parties but I doubt that will happen. My family isn't big on fancy holiday parties, they are usually too casual for this skirt.

Daily Post and New Buys.

Thanks to everyone for your advice on my hair cut. I did get it cut yesterday, finally. I'm pretty happy with it. I planned on adding pictures today but I got caught in the rain and didn't feel like styling it again, but I promise they'll be there tomorrow. I'm actually back in MD again, I've really been splitting my time between MD and NYC these days. I have 2 baby showers and a birthday party for a special little girl this weekend (the daughter of my friend who passed away). All these events I just didn't want to miss. I'll also be visiting with HeidiG since she lives very close to the venue of one of the baby showers I have to attend.

What I Wore today: 7 jeans, JCrew long sleeve perfect tee in black, JCrew cashmere black and gray sweater from last year (forgot the name), JCrew metallic silver flats.
I know recently I said no more shopping BUT it didn't last long... a popback during the 20% off promotion of the constellation cardigan in my size did me in. I've always loved this but never saw it popback in an XS until recently. One day while I was shopping at the Collection store I saw it in my size behind the register but it was on hold for someone and I'm glad it was because I got it with a % off and free shipping!!
While the BF and I were in AC I picked up two things from the outlet: This ice skate tee, I just had to have this! I bought it in a size S, I've found that the outlet tees can sometimes run on the small side. Plus it's slightly see through so I'd want to layer it.
Lastly, I picked up this necklace, on sale. The beads are clear and the flowers have pretty rhinestones on them.
The outlet had a lot of cute stuff but nothing I really needed. They had some cute blazers I might have bought but they were sold out of 0's in all of them. They did have these cute wool blend sweaters that look similar to the Cashmere henley (not as soft of course) but the sizing was weird on me, the XS was too short in the arms and length but the S was just too big.
Compared to the cashmere henley they were nicely priced at around $50-$60 with 30% off. I would have bought every color if they fit me right.

Last week I also scored this jacket on Ebay. Some of you saw my JCA post looking for this. This sequin military jacket was from Holiday 05. I actually used to own one and then one day sold it on Ebay, I have no idea why. I think I only got $15 for it too if I remember correctly. Well I always regretted it and last week I got lucky and someone put one on Ebay. Some of the rhinestones are missing, which the seller didn't mention, but it really isn't too noticeable and I can probably replace them if I want.
There is also a handknit turtleneck sweater in snow/off-white from Winter '05 that I'd love to get my hands on. It was sort of cabled but it was a large pattern, not like the cambridge cable sweaters. It was also slightly stretchy too. I always regret getting rid of that one also. If anyone has one in an XS they don't want I'd be willing to buy it.

The items I bought from the SOHO store I'm adding to a separate post now.

A Special Thanks!

I would like to give a very special THANK YOU to Debra from Easily Distracted Debra. A couple weeks ago she contacted me about sending me a little gift - it arrived last week and I couldn't have been more surprised and happy. She sent me the cutest kitty stuff for me and my fur babies. Fia loved it. I think Fia picked up the kitty scent from Debra's fur babies and she was so interested in the box and all the goodies inside. Thank you so much Debra, I really appreciate your generosity!

I need a new hair cut - advice please!

I think it's finally time to take the scissors to my long hair. A few years ago after my grandmother passed away from leukemia I started growing my hair out and donating it to Locks of Love. I think the length is finally long enough that it's time to cut it again. I can't decide if I should cut only a few inches off and keep it semi long with lots of layers or try a new short cut. I'd love everyones advice on what might work best for my face. Thanks.

A busy NJ/NYC Weekend.

Thursday I headed back up north but made a stop to meet the BF in Atlantic City for the night. I don't gamble, so the BF and I usually do dinner together and then I go off shopping and he goes off to play poker. Luckily we stayed at the Tropicana (it has a mini mall inside) because the weather was horrible outside!

What I Wore: JBrand skinny jeans, TB leopard flats, JCrew favorite fit white tank, JCrew dream knox sweater jacket, constellation necklace, Gucci bag.
It was full blown Christmas in AC, they were even playing Christmas music. I love Christmas but I think it's a little early still.
Friday morning we headed out of AC but not before stopping at the JCrew outlet in AC. I'll do a separate post on what I ended up getting later. Here I am with the giant Christmas tree in the hotel, I told you it was Christmas in AC.

What I Wore: Since it was pouring still I wore my Burberry rain boots, JBrand skinny jeans, JCrew white tee shirt and JCrew marled wool cardigan.
For the remainder of Friday we spent time in NJ visiting the BF's family. We had dinner at their family owned restaurant and I also tagged along to the BF's soccer game in NJ that evening.

What I wore: 7 jeans, Burberry flats, JCrew sweater that I forgot the name of it's the one with the button on the neck and sleeves, JCrew pearl twisted hammock necklace and JCrew timex military watch.
Saturday morning I met up with friends who were visiting NYC from MD. We had brunch at Nolita House. It's a small restaurant that has a blue grass band playing inside. (It's also located near the SOHO JCrew, which I did make a stop inside. I'll share my purchases in an upcoming post.)
The service was slow, we waited about 45 mins for our food but it was delicious. I had cheese grits with scrambled eggs, shrimp, and asparagus. You also got free mimosas with your meal.

Me and my friends S & C.
What I Wore to Brunch: JCrew cashmere long sleeved tee in black, JCrew round fireball necklace in black, 7 jeans, Burberry rain boots (yes it was still raining on saturday).

Saturday night the BF and I headed back out to NJ to see the Caps play the Devils. Go Caps!
It was a lot of fun but the Caps ended up losing. Of course the BF and I both wore our Caps jersey!
Sunday we went ice skating at Bryant Park. We planned on going Saturday but the rain prevented us from going. Admission to skate at Bryant park is FREE! I have no idea what I am doing in the picture below, the BF took this when I wasn't paying attention. It was really crowded so I did just 1 spin and no jumps.
What I Wore: JCrew cashmere tee, JCrew long sleeved gray tee, 7 jeans, I also wore two of my ribbon necklaces tied together a pearl one and the one that matches the sweater perfectly, I took it off for skating though.

It was really hard to get a picture of the two of us - people kept skating in front - I tried cropping the people out as good as possible.
Ice Rink at Bryant Park. They have cute shops set up around the rink too, definitely worth visiting.

Happy Veterans Day to all and a Very Special Vet.

I would like to wish a Happy Veterans Day to all those who have served, are currently serving, will soon be serving, and the strong families who support these men and women.

I would like to say a special Happy Veterans day to my best friend and boyfriend, who served twice in Iraq. BF joined the Marines right out of High School, he left for boot camp In August 2001 never thinking he'd actually see war. Just one month later on September 11, 2001 everything changed. BF was part of the very first troop that was sent to Iraq, at just 19 years old. All I ever think when I see these pictures is babies holding guns, he just looks so young to me to be doing something so dangerous. Luckily he returned after both deployments unharmed.

Tomorrow I will be heading back to NYC, with a detour to Atlantic City. The BF loves AC so that's where we will be starting our weekend full of veterans day celebrations. We are also planning on going ice skating at Rockefeller and seeing the Washington Capitals play the New Jersey Devils in NJ on Saturday night. Hopefully the BF likes his present too!

Daily Post plus TONS of new purchase pictures!

Today was yet again another drs appointment, that makes 3 total in the last few days. Tons of blood work and shots - HeidiG said it perfectly, I'm feeling like a human pin cushion. The good thing though is the more doctor appointments the closer we get to figuring it all out. On top of my Ulcerative Colitis I also have had chronic hives for the last 13 years. The more tests the more links they are finding between things, I could actually have another type of auto-immune disease that is causing everything. I'm ready for some answers!

What I wore today: (1st new purchase) JCrew cambridge cable v-neck in cinnamon spice. I am so happy I returned the henley tee and bought this instead. Paired with 7 jeans, white favorite fit tee, JCrew constellation necklace, heirloom flora earrings, TB leopard flats.
Here is a close up of the sweater, overall I say TTS and would definitely recommend.
After my doctors appointment I met up with my mom for dinner and shopping at IKEA. Why? No I do not need any new furniture right now BUT it's CHRISTMAS at IKEA. They always sell their Christmas goodies early in the holiday season and sell out quickly so we try to go as early as possible. Both my mom and my tree are always decked out in IKEA ornaments every year. I'm actually quite excited for December to roll around so I can share my tree with you all - it's not a normal tree AT ALL - think vintage but that's all I'm saying for now! I have to say I didn't love a lot of what they had to offer this year but I didn't walk away empty handed either!
So my mom is a hardcore knitter and growing up she always made me the cutest Fair Isle type sweaters to wear for skating and lately I've been searching for one to buy. I decided on the JCrew little boys handknit cowichan shawl cardigan. I ordered it in a size 12 and I think it fits quite nicely. It fits me good on the shoulders and also hits me at the hip around the same place some of the women's sweaters do.
I also ordered the JCrew little girls Fiona fur vest. I thought this would make a great bday present for a little girl I know but I was also interested in trying this for myself. This is an XL/XXL and well you can see it's not going to work on taller people. It is way to short and tight through the shoulders. It could definitely work for a petite woman though.
Back to women's: The JCrew ultra-knit pullover hoodie in deep slate. I bought this in an XS and love it. It's really comfortable and cozy, I'd buy the light gray color too but I think it's too similar to the Jaspe to justify it.
I also picked up these two cashmere crewneck sweaters that were in the sale section.
This one is sweet guava.
This one I believe is bright seaside. Both are XS and fit great, they were both WELL over half off. I love the bright seaside but I'm debating the guava still. It's very pretty but I'm not sure the color looks best on me. Oddly these are both XS but the seaside is actually cut a bit bigger.
This tee is from Madewell, I bought it a bit ago but thought I'd share. Its the sequin pocket tee. It's an XS and the fit is loose but I think it's supposed to be like that. The material is very soft. If I'm correct it came in 2 other colors, I believe purple and maybe white.
Close up of the sequins.
Lastly, I bought this plaid top from H&M. I really wanted something to follow the plaid trend and I had my eye on this red Juicy Couture plaid dress but didn't want to spend too much money on a trend. When strolling through H&M with a friend this caught my eye. I had wanted red because I just think plaid looks cutest in red but I really like this color combo.
Close up of the color and pattern.
Okay that was a lot to get through. And that will probably be the last of any new purchases I make for awhile. Christmas is approaching so it's time to start thinking about gifts. I also have three close friends that are due in December/January so it's time to focus on baby gifts!
